With holiday season set to begin, WWE has been holding double tapings for all of their television shows. This will allow wrestlers to spend time with their families over Christmas.
As a result, though, some big moments may end up airing a week after they originally happened. That was the case during today’s NXT tapings, according to multiple accounts. The December 24th episode of the developmental brand was taped following today’s show, and it featured a title change.
Lexis King defeated Charlie Dempsey via disqualification to win the Heritage Cup, after William Regal hit him with brass knuckles. This was a surprising turn of events, as Regal and King have been working together. The former AEW star had previously lost to Dempsey after he refused to use the brass knuckles given to him by the former Intercontinental Champion.
We will have to wait a week to see how this moment plays out on television. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen where the partnership between Lexis King and William Regal goes after the latter’s surprising actions won him the Heritage Cup. The dynamic between the WWE legend and his son is also an interesting plot point on NXT.
This could end up being the last title change across all of WWE in 2024 unless something big happens on the final SmackDown or RAW of the year
