Just four weeks into the season, Davante Adams is facing an unreal predicament. His trade from a request from the Las Vegas Raiders was enough to send NFL analysts deep into the sea of speculations. Countless reports of 1-7s next landing spot surfaced since then. Some want the Aaron Rodgers-Davante Adams’ “PB&J”-like combo to come together, and others have more heretic things in mind.

Can you imagine the Raiders trading a player to the Kansas City Chiefs? They’re like oil and water; they just don’t mix. Yet, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III wants the back-to-back Super Bowl-winning team to consider the option. After all, it’s checking two boxes at one time. The Chiefs will get a veteran receiver, and the 6x Pro Bowler can chase the Lombardi.

RGIII took to X and spoke his mind: “The Chiefs need to go get Davante Adams.” Of course, die-hard Chiefs and Raiders fans are mad at the sheer thought of these teams thinking about a transaction. However, for Griffin, Adams joining the New York Jets is like trading “dysfunction for dysfunction.” Adams helped Rodgers get back-to-back league MVPs, but that doesn’t seem to be possible in Gang Green’s current circumstances.

Thus, it’s enough for RGIII to double down on his stance and say, “The Chiefs provide an opportunity to make history and be a part of the 1st 3-peat EVER. Teams have made trades to their division rivals before. If the Raiders only care about compensation for him, the Chiefs should be trying to join the Adams  family.” Without a shred of doubt, Adams has a Hall of Fame-worthy career. Joining the Kansas City Chiefs might just bring him one step closer to that reality.

Imagine Patrick Mahomes throwing deep passes to Davante Adams after years of trying to find a groove with his wideout core. Rousing, isn’t it? But the Raiders trading a player to their sworn divisional rival would be a real curveball to deal with. For the Las Vegas Raiders that “hates red” and wants to “knock off the head of the snake,” the exchange seems highly unlikely.

It’s not that easy to put aside the rivalry that dictated their relationship for more than four decades. That leaves us with the other plausible option, Davante Adams’ trade to the New York Jets.

Will Davante Adams choose nostalgia over a Super Bowl ring?

Let’s be real for a moment. Adams and A-Rod have elevated each other’s careers during their eight seasons together at Wisconsin. Just to get an idea of their accolades, Adams has caught 669 passes from the 4x MVP and racked up 8,121 yards and 73 touchdowns during their time together at Green Bay.

In their last 2 seasons together (2020 and 2021), Adams had at least 1,300 yards per season with a minimum of 11 touchdowns each season. That was also the time when A-Rod got back-to-back MVPs. However, Rodgers isn’t in the best of spots right now. The Jets are in a shambolic state right now. While there are no questions about the Super Bowl-winning QB’s capabilities, there are other problems with the New York team.

There are O-Line concerns; the pass rush is weak; Rodgers’ connection with Garrett Wilson is dwindling; Breece Hall isn’t doing so well; the team has issues with unwanted penalties; and there are myriad other things to dive into. “I love Davante Adams; I can’t wait to play with him… again,” Rodgers said. But at the time he was talking about playing golf with his old WR BFF. Or was he?
