Chiefs expected to make it to Denver for Sunday’s game despite icy conditions impacting the Kansas City area…
The Kansas City Chiefs had a bit of a scare while trying to leave for Denver to play the Broncos on Sunday.

The Chiefs planned to head out early due to a blizzard warning that is currently hitting Kansas City on Saturday afternoon. However, their charter plane was delayed in coming to K.C. due to mechanical issues, making an early departure impossible. By the time it arrived, the icy conditions had already began to set in.
As a result, the Chiefs’ flight was delayed. However, our friend Matt Derek of Chiefs Digest has received word that the runways at MCI Airport in K.C. have reopened and the Chiefs will be able to make it to Denver.
Tracy Wolfson of CBS Sports also reported that the Chiefs are set to take flight soon.
That is obviously great news because the NFL’s rule on a team not making it on time to play is that it must forfeit. The Chiefs had a scare with that back in 2019 when their equipment was delayed getting to New England for a crucial matchup against the Patriots. Fortunately, it made it in time.
It actually wouldn’t be the end of the world if K.C. had to forfeit Sunday’s game to the Broncos since it has nothing to play for. The Chiefs will rest several key starters as they have the AFC’s No. 1 seed already locked up. It would be quite the bummer for the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals though, as they need the Chiefs to beat Denver in order to make it to the playoffs.
