Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes praises Harrison Butker with 4-word message

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes praised kicker Harrison Butker following his game-winning kick against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Kansas City Chiefs won an instant-classic against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, 26-25, as kicker Harrison Butker secured the victory for Kansas City in the game’s final seconds with a 51-yard field goal.

After the game, quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke about what went through his head prior to Butker’s kick.

“I’m obviously nervous because it’s out of my hands and I don’t have a chance to go out there and make a play,” said Mahomes. “But, at the same time, when I step on the field for a fourth-quarter drive with two minutes, and all I need is a field goal, I just really know I gotta cross the 50, and Harrison is gonna go out there and knock it through. It’s a special thing to have a kicker like that.”

Kicker Rankings Week 1: Harrison Butker

This is not the first time that Butker has shown up in a huge moment, as his game-winning kick against the Bengals in the 2022 AFC Championship sent the Chiefs to the Super Bowl, where he then nailed another game-winning field goal to secure the championship for the Kansas City.

Butker has been with Kansas City since 2017, and currently has a career field goal percentage of 89.3, which makes him the second-most accurate kicker in NFL history behind Justin Tucker.
