Former star NFL WR makes PSA to rest of the NFL on who can stop the Chiefs from accomplishing a three-peat

We have officially entered the time of the year that belongs to the Kansas City Chiefs.

No matter what things were like from September through mid-December, this is when the Chiefs flip the switch and elevate their game in order to win the Super Bowl. 2024 is no exception as Kansas City has played it’s best games of the season each of the last two weeks.

The Chiefs are once again clicking at the right time and are playing well on both sides of the ball. Opposing teams and fans alike are dreading what has been the inevitable more often than not over the past five years, and according to former NFL star wide receiver Julian Edelman, they’re right to be afraid.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes hoists the Vince Lombardi Trophy after defeating the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

“The Chiefs are the best football team in the United States of America, world, country,” Edelman said on Sunday’s Fox NFL Kickoff show. “It’s not even close. This is a PSA – if you don’t want the greatest NFL football season in the history of the game, I know ’72 [the 1972 Miami Dolphins] was undefeated, but they’re [the Chiefs] going for a three-peat. NFL – it’s up to you, Lamar [Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson], it’s up to you [Buffalo Bills QB] Josh Allen, it’s up to someone in the NFC – it’s up to you guys to stop this, Because right now, you ain’t going to stop it.”

That’s a strong statement from Edelman, who knows how hard it is to beat dynasty as he won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots. Edelman specifically calls out Jackson and Allen, who most would agree have the best chance to beat the Chiefs in the postseason if somebody’s going to do it.

However, Edelman concluded his statement with what wasn’t exactly a vote of confidence for either of them stopping K.C. With the regular season basically over for the Chiefs as they aren’t expected to play many starters in Week 18 with the No. 1 seed in the AFC already clinched, it’s now all about the playoffs. As Edelman said, the 2024 Chiefs will have a strong argument for being the best team in NFL history if they finish 19-1 and accomplish the first ever Super Bowl three-peat.
