Kansas City Chiefs’ star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, has taken to social media to express his shock and sadness after their Super Bowl parade turned into a terrifying crime scene.
The joyous celebration of the Chiefs’ third Super Bowl win in five seasons took a tragic turn when shots were fired near Union Station. One person died and up to 15 others were injured, some of whom are children.

Police have confirmed that all Chiefs players, staff and family friends are safe. Some fans are receiving medical treatment. Two suspects are now in police custody and investigations are ongoing.
Taking to X, Mahomes posted: “Praying for Kansas City.” Linebacker Drue Tranquill also shared his thoughts on the platform, urging people to pray for the victims. “Please join me in prayer for all the victims in this heinous act,” he wrote.
The Kansas City Chiefs shared a statement shortly after. It said: “We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today’s parade and rally. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all of Kansas City.”
“We are in close communication with the Mayor’s office as well as the Kansas City Police Department. At this time, we have confirmed that all of our players, coaches, staff and their families are safe and accounted for. We thank the local law enforcement officers and first responders who were on-scene to assist.”
An upset Kansas City police chief Stacey Graves spoke up after the incident. She said how it jeoparised millions who were just hoping to enjoy the celebration. “I’m angry at what happened today,” she expressed during her interview with MSNBC.
Graves added: “The people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment. We had over 800 law enforcement officers, Kansas City, and other agencies, at the location to keep everyone safe. Because of bad actors, which were very few, this tragedy occurred even in the presence of uniformed law enforcement officers who ran towards them and brought them into custody.
“To the people injured in this tragedy, our hearts go out to you and your families. This investigation is just beginning and we are working safely to clear all surrounding areas and businesses. This is still an active investigation and we will continue to keep you updated.”
The sad incident completely overshadowed what was supposed to be a joyous celebration. Travis Kelce, the team’s tight end, was spotted mingling with fans and even kneeled down to enjoy a beer with the Kansas City locals.
Patrick Mahomes was seen dancing on the parade bus with his wife Brittany. Even Isaiah Pacheco, Chiefs running back, made an appearance with a goat dressed in a Chiefs sweater. The Chiefs were the first team to win consecutive Super Bowls since the New England Patriots in 2004-05 and they’re aiming for a third win next season.
