It appears that the reigning Queen of Tennis isn’t prepared to relinquish her throne just yet. Speaking at a conference in Silicon Valley this week, Serena Williams hinted at a potential return tocompetitive professional tennis, doing so with a lighthearted tone.
“I’m not retired,” Williams stated during the TechCrunch Disrupt panel in San Francisco a few days ago.
When questioned about the possibility of seeing her back on the court, she quipped to the audience, “The chances are very high.” This was promptly followed by a playful remark: “You can come to my house, I got a court. I got you.”

Despite her openness and willingness to focus on her business ventures, Serena acknowledges that transitioning away from professional sports has been challenging.
“I woke up the other day, went to the court, and realized, ‘Oh, for the first time in my life, I’m not playing for a competition,’ and it felt really strange,” she shared. “It was like the first day of the rest of my life, and so far, I am enjoying it. But, I’m still trying to find that balance.”
After a sparse schedule in 2022, Serena made an impressive run to the third round of the US Open, where she was defeated by Australian player Ajla Tomljanović.
