Angel Reese Speaks Out on All-Star Snub: “I’ve Outperformed Caitlin”
Chicago, IL – July 2, 2025 — Chicago Sky rookie forward Angel Reese has expressed frustration over what she perceives as a lack of respect in the WNBA All-Star voting process, claiming her on-court performance has been overlooked in favor of flashier narratives.
Despite an impressive debut season, Reese was not among the top vote-getters for the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game, sparking backlash from fans and igniting controversy across the league. The 22-year-old did not hold back when asked about her reaction to the results.
“Clearly, I’ve outperformed Caitlin up to this point,” Reese said, referring to Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, whose popularity has skyrocketed since joining the league. “Maybe people just aren’t seeing what I bring to the table. It feels like I’m not being respected for what I’ve actually done on the court.”

Reese, the 7th overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, has made an immediate impact with the Sky, averaging a double-double and providing consistent energy and rebounding on both ends of the floor. While her team has struggled in the standings, Reese’s individual performance has earned praise from analysts and fans alike.
Her comments come in the wake of a voting process that heavily favored Clark, who has been a media sensation since her NCAA days at Iowa. Although Clark has shown flashes of brilliance in her rookie campaign, some fans and commentators argue that Reese has been more consistent, especially on the defensive end.
Reese’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions across social media. Many fans have rallied to her defense, arguing that she has every right to feel snubbed. “She’s been putting up All-Star numbers night after night,” one supporter wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Just because her team isn’t winning doesn’t mean her performance doesn’t count.”
Another fan noted, “Angel is being real. She’s not wrong—she’s doing everything she can on a team that’s rebuilding. She deserves more credit.”
However, not all reactions have been positive. Some critics accused Reese of being arrogant and unsportsmanlike in her comparison to Clark. “You don’t need to tear another player down to make your point,” one user posted. “Let your game speak for itself.”
Others pointed to her choice of words, suggesting that publicly comparing herself to a peer in such blunt terms may do more harm than good to her public image. Still, Reese has never shied away from speaking her mind, and her confidence has been a defining trait since her college days at LSU.

This isn’t the first time the Reese-Clark rivalry has drawn attention. The two faced off memorably in the 2023 NCAA Championship, where Reese and LSU triumphed over Clark’s Iowa team. Since then, comparisons between the two have followed them into the professional ranks, often fueled by contrasting styles and personalities.
Chicago Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon came to Reese’s defense during a post-practice press conference, emphasizing her player’s work ethic and leadership. “Angel shows up every day, ready to compete,” Weatherspoon said. “She’s not just talking—she’s backing it up with her performance. I stand by her.”
As the debate continues, one thing is clear: Reese’s voice, like her game, commands attention. Whether or not she ultimately makes the All-Star roster as a coach or reserve pick, her presence has already added intensity and edge to a league that continues to grow in visibility and competitiveness.
For Angel Reese, the All-Star snub may just be added motivation.
“I’ll just keep doing what I’ve been doing,” she said. “They’ll have to see me eventually.”
