Steph Curry Reacts to Angel Reese ATTACKING Caitlin Clark

In the wake of rising tensions on and off the court between WNBA stars Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, NBA icon Stephen Curry has broken his silence — and his take might surprise you.

While there hasn’t been an outright physical “attack,” the word being used by many fans and commentators is metaphorical. It refers to the increasingly heated rivalry that has taken center stage in women’s basketball — and become a lightning rod for debates around sportsmanship, race, media bias, and the future of the WNBA.

The spark? A hard foul by Angel Reese on Caitlin Clark during a recent WNBA matchup between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever. Though the foul was assessed as a “common” basketball play, it reignited an ongoing rivalry that began back in college — when Reese and Clark faced off in the 2023 NCAA Championship game. Reese’s now-famous “You can’t see me” taunt and finger-pointing at her ring finger became viral — and divisive.

Fast-forward to 2025, and the drama hasn’t died down. If anything, it’s amplified.

In an interview with ESPN’s “NBA Countdown,” Steph Curry, who has often praised Caitlin Clark’s range and playmaking abilities, was asked to comment on the recent incidents and the heated discussions around them.

“I think people are making it a little bigger than it is,” Curry said. “This is competition. That’s what we want. That’s what grows the game. Angel and Caitlin — they’re both fierce. They both want to win. And that’s what makes them great.”

Curry’s reaction was measured, but supportive. He declined to frame Reese’s behavior as an “attack,” and instead emphasized the value of intensity in women’s sports.

“We see this all the time in the NBA,” Curry added. “Guys chirping, hard fouls, intense rivalries — that’s part of what makes basketball exciting. I don’t think Angel’s doing anything out of line. And Caitlin? She’s handled the pressure better than most pros would.”

Curry also pointed out that Clark, like himself, faces defenses designed specifically to limit her impact — and that’s a compliment in itself.

“Look, if teams are building game plans around you, that’s respect. They know how dangerous Caitlin is, just like teams used to press up on me at half court. It’s annoying, it’s physical, but it means you’re doing something right.”

The NBA superstar’s comments come amid a broader cultural conversation about how female athletes — particularly Black and white athletes — are portrayed differently by fans and the media.

Many fans have noticed a stark contrast in how Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are discussed online. Reese, who plays with passion and flair, is often criticized for being “too aggressive” or “unsportsmanlike,” while Clark’s fiery competitiveness is framed as confident leadership.

Curry didn’t ignore this, either.

“There’s definitely some double standards we have to look at,” he said. “Trash talk and physical play shouldn’t be viewed one way when it’s coming from one player and another when it’s from someone else.”

But above all, Curry sees this as a moment of growth — for the players and for the game.

“Angel’s going to keep doing her thing. Caitlin’s going to keep shooting from the logo. And the fans are going to keep showing up. That’s a win for women’s basketball.”

As the WNBA continues to gain traction, the Reese-Clark rivalry is becoming its version of Magic vs. Bird — not because of any real hatred, but because of how their styles, personalities, and stories contrast so sharply. And if Steph Curry — one of the most influential players of the modern era — sees it as good for the game, that’s saying something.

One thing is clear: Whether you love the drama or just want to watch good basketball, you’ll want to stay tuned.
