In a move that has left the royal family and the public reeling, Princess Anne has sent a personal message to her brother, King Charles III, that is being described as nothing short of a royal bombshell.
The message, which has shaken Buckingham Palace to its very core, marks a remarkable shift in Anne’s relationship with the monarchy and offers a glimpse into the deep sense of duty that has defined her life.
But is this another act of selflessness from the ever-dedicated princess, or is there more beneath the surface?
Despite this, Princess Anne has always fiercely defended her mother, insisting that Queen Elizabeth was both loving and nurturing, even if royal duty often kept her away from personal moments.
From an early age, Anne was known for her independent spirit, a trait that would define much of her life.
Her ability to balance a full-time royal career, excel in competitive sport, and manage charitable work is nothing short of remarkable. The public has long admired her for her tireless work ethic and her ability to stay out of the tabloid spotlight, a feat that is rare among royals.
The decision, which could save the royal family millions in inheritance taxes, has left the palace reeling. The gesture, however, is more than just about money—it is a heartfelt attempt by Anne to ease her brother’s burden during his reign. For Anne, it’s a demonstration of her unwavering loyalty to Charles, a gesture that shows just how far she is willing to go for family.

“Anne was given a starring role as the King’s Gold Stick-in-Waiting at his coronation and was seen greeting newly-crowned Charles back at Buckingham Palace with the words ‘Hello, old bean’. Despite having a heavy workload of her own, Anne has increased her engagements in recent months to support her brother and the Princess of Wales as they continue their respective cancer treatments.”
As Anne’s birthday celebrations get underway, join us as we take a closer look at the mother-of-two’s incredibly close bond with her brother, King Charles.

Whilst the pair appeared to have a hoot in their youth, Charles and Anne have maintained a sense of playfulness in their relationship. In recent years, Anne has bestowed on her brother a charming nickname which only came to light earlier this year during the monarch’s Coronation celebrations.
In footage from the BBC’s documentary titled Charles III: The Coronation Year, Princess Anne was filmed filtering through Buckingham Palace ahead of the royal family’s memorable balcony appearance. At one point, the royal made a beeline for her brother, before calling out: “Hello, old bean.”
