Angel Reese Set to Make Hollywood Debut Alongside Idris Elba in Netflix Thriller

Angel Reese has been playing very well since returning from a back injury that sidelined her for 7 straight games. Even though the Chicago Sky have not been winning, her performances have been breaking records.

The 23-year-old has become the most important player on that roster, and her very presence forces opposing teams to alter their game plans. Despite all that, she will not play in the postseason for the second straight season.

Last time around, she was recovering from wrist surgery. She then used her offseason to build her brand by appearing on comedy shows, fashion shows, and music concerts.

This time, the 6′ 3″ forward will likely be busier as she is set to mix it up in Hollywood. As per The Hollywood Reporter, Reese is set to make her debut on the big screen when A House of Dynamite premieres on Netflix on October 24th.

The Kathryn Bigelow-helmed nuclear disaster project features a star-studded cast, including Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Anthony Ramos, Greta Lee, and others. Once this news became public, Angel Reese wrote this on X:

The movie premiered at the Venice Film Festival earlier and garnered an 11-minute standing ovation. If that is the response the film gets worldwide, expect this to have an incredible impact on Angel Reese‘s brand.

Angel Reese has a basketball-themed scene with Idris Elba

After doing a lot on the fashion front, Angel Reese is trying to make inroads into Hollywood and television. Recently, she managed to make contact with the creator of another Netflix hit, Hunting Wives.

Even if the creator and the show’s producers agree, it will be a while before the WNBA star starts shooting. On that note, this upcoming film, A House of Dynamite, will be her debut.

In the movie, the Maryland native has a scene with leading star Idris Elba, and The Hollywood Reporter gave a spoiler as to what Reese would be doing in the scene.

There’s a little bit of a lead-up to her cameo as Elba’s character, the President of the United States, is briefed in the White House that the next item on his agenda is an “Angel Reese” thing. The action picks up as the president visits Liberty Arena where Reese is waiting on the basketball floor with a group of girls.

The publication reveals that this is not just a quick cameo. Rather, Reese engages with Elba in the scene for a while before he is shifted away to another scene. The movie will also hit theaters globally on October 10th.

Angel Reese and Sky hope to eke out some wins before tough final 3 games

Since Angel Reese came back from her back injury, the Chicago Sky have lost 5 of their last 6 games. The lone win was an impressive one against the defending champion New York Liberty.

They will face the Liberty again in their regular-season finale, and before that, two home games against the hot-handed Las Vegas Aces. The Sky will probably lose those 3 games, considering both their opponents are battling for playoff seedings.

But before those 3 tough games, they will face the Connecticut Sun and the Indiana Fever. The former won their last matchup and have been in surprising form. The latter has been inconsistent amidst a string of injuries.

Both those games are winnable, as the Sky possess the players to fight for a win. If their recent performances against playoff teams were anything to go by, all Reese and her teammates need is to continue that strategy.

This season did not work out the way they planned, but it will be motivating if they can finish the season with some wins. Angel Reese and her teammates are hoping their late-season improvements can pan out in the future.
