Drama in Chicago rarely stays quiet. Angel Reese knows that better than anyone after her tough end to the 2025 season with the Sky.
The 23-year-old forward apologized to her teammates after her comments about the roster, but it didn’t resolve the things. She served a half-game suspension, sat out the rest of the season, and there are talks about a possible trade.

General manager Jeff Pagliocca told ESPN’s Alexa Philippou that Reese remains on the roster “until I hear differently.” But he admitted things got messy.
Reese, Courtney Vandersloot, and Ariel Atkins skipped their exit interviews, according to Front Office Sports’ Annie Costabile. That silence only created speculation about her future.
So, where could Reese go if the Sky decides to shake things up? Bleacher Report’s Lee Escobedo gave out six wild landing spots. Some sound bold. Some sound shocking. All of them would change the league.
Stunning Details Emerge On A Potential Angel Reese Blockbuster Trade
Let’s start with Seattle. Escobedo called the Storm “the most logical trade partners.” The team fired Noelle Quinn after a first-round exit and needs fresh energy.
A deal could send 19-year-old rookie Dominique Malonga and a 2026 first-round pick to Chicago. Reese would join Nneka Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins, and Ezi Magbegor if the veterans re-sign.
The Washington Mystics also sit on the list. Reese grew up in Baltimore, and a return closer to home would sell tickets.
New York Liberty adds intrigue too. Pairing Reese with Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu would give the Liberty even more star power.

Then there’s Golden State. The Valkyries already attract attention in their debut season. Adding Reese would supercharge their profile and put her alongside another rising star in Cameron Brink.
Escobedo also mentioned the Atlanta Dream. The franchise has young talent but needs a headline name. Reese could be that centerpiece. Portland and Toronto, both expansion teams, round out the bold list. Dropping Reese into a brand-new market would give those rosters instant credibility.
Pagliocca said, “Angel is an ascending young talent in this league who’s had two very, very good seasons here in Chicago.” He also stressed the conversations between Reese and the front office remain “constant and productive.” That might sound like stability, but with reports of already multiple teams lined up earlier and now these six teams, it can be a different story.
Reese just finished with career highs in points, assists, and steals. She shot a personal-best 45.8 percent from the field. She’s not just productive, she’s marketable. If Chicago pulls the trigger, the ripple will shake the league from Seattle to New York.
