Caitlin Clark becomes second female TIME Athlete of the Year
Caitlin Clark was named the sixth sports figure to be honored as TIME Athlete of the Year. She joined the United States Women’s National Soccer Team, LeBron James, Simone Biles, Aaron Judge and Lionel Messi.
She became the second individual woman to win TIME Athlete of the Year, joining Biles, the seven-time Olympic gold medalist.
TIME asked Clark for one word to describe her path in 2024, to which she confidently responded: “Historic.”
Clark was the driving force of a rookie class that made an immediate impact on the WNBA’s popularity. With Clark leading the way, the league shattered previous attendance, ratings and revenue records. After just one season, Clark’s legend has already joined the likes of Serena Williams and Simone Biles, and her popularity continues to grow immensely.
