Sophie Cunningham certainly has a gripe with the refs.
The Indiana Fever guard caught an elbow to the head in their Tuesday contest against the Connecticut Sun. The Fever were playing defense, and Cunningham was following Leïla Lacan. Unfortunately for her, Olivia Nelson-Ododa swung her right arm, and her elbow hit Cunningham in the head, which caused her to fall to the ground momentarily.
One of the officials was standing right in front of the players involved. The referee saw what happened but did not bother to stop the play.
Despite the missed call, the Fever guard did not complain and continued with the game.
Fortunately for Cunningham and the Fever, they came out victorious from the contest. She scored 11 points off the bench on 4-of-6 shooting, helping Indiana to an 85-77 win.
Sophie Cunningham Reacts to Getting Elbowed

Cunningham sent a message to her fans after a physical play during Tuesday’s WNBA game.
Cunningham’s Indiana Fever took on the Connecticut Sun in a rematch of a fiery game earlier this year.
The 28-year-old would find herself on the ground this time around after apparently taking a shot to the head. The incident happened in the fourth quarter when Indiana led 66-65.
Cunningham tried to set a screen for teammate Aliyah Boston.
Sun player Olivia Nelson-Ododa saw it coming and tried to block Cunningham. She would use her elbow. There was no call. Sophie Cunningham got up to continue the play and made minimal fuss.
But she spoke about the incident on social media afterwards.
One fan posted on X, “Sophie Cunningham takes an elbow to the head. No call.”
“They said I flopped. El oh el,” Cunningham said in response.
