According to the heartwarming note, the USOPC congratulated the coach for guiding the gymnast through the U.S. Olympic Trials and to several podiums in the French capital. The G.O.A.T. did face a huge mental block while contesting in the trials, as we witnessed in Episode 3 of Simone Biles Rising. With many gymnasts succumbing to their injuries, the 27-year-old was terrified, thinking she could be next. When Cecile Landi noticed this, she tried her best to smoothen things out.

The coach promptly asked the gymnasts to focus on themselves and not look around. But even she knows that this was easier said than done. In fact, Simone Biles stepped onto the mat to compete, and Landi shouted words of encouragement. She consistently reminded each of them what they were capable of. So, why shouldn’t this effort be recognized? But here’s the kicker. The Order of Ikkos program was established to allow the members of Team USA to appreciate a coach that has been influential in their Olympics or Paralympics journey.

“The unique honor is bestowed upon coaches only by their Olympic and Paralympic athlete(s) and you have been recognized as a recipient. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that the USOPC presents to you the Order of Ikkos on behalf of Simone Biles,” the note stated.
