Sidney Crosby’s future with the Pittsburgh Penguins remains undetermined following several announcements involving his willingness to finish his career with another organization.

According to a report from NHL alumni and analyst Nick Kypreos, one team is preparing a monsterous trade offer for the 37-year old forward, and we now have a date.

Kypreos has stated that the flood gates might just open after the Olympic Games:

“I don’t think he’s going anywhere for a while but all bets are off after the Olympic Games”

Eastern Conference team ready to go all in to acquire Sidney Crosby from Pittsburgh

On Jeff Marek’s “The Sheet” podcast with Greg Wyshynski of ESPN, he has revealed that the Montreal Canadiens are believed to be circled on Crosby’s list.

“I’ve long believed that Sidney Crosby will end his career in Montreal. If he’s gonna go anywhere & he’s gonna try to do something spectacular, being part of the legacy & lineage of the Montreal Canadiens.

Being part of a team that’s got upward trajectory & have a good chance, maybe (win) a late career championship with a team that hasn’t won since 1993. A team he clearly has a lot of affinity for. I always assumed if it wasn’t Pittsburgh, it would be Montreal.”

Comparing the Penguins and the Canadiens, one team has a bright future in the NHL driven by youth, and the other is slowly fading off the charts with aging veterans such as Kristopher Letang, Evgeni Malkin, Erik Karlsson, and even Crosby himself.

“If ever Sidney Crosby decides he’s ready to leave Pittsburgh and Montreal is one of the destinations on his list, I know that Kent Hughes would be ready to make an offer.

I believe Canadiens management has already thought this through and knows what they would be willing to offer.”

And according to Alexandre Gascon, the Montreal Canadiens already have an offer for Sidney Crosby once he becomes available.
With plenty of bright prospects in the Habs organization, it’s not being doubted that they have enough to acquire Sid.
