Mike Lawler Unmasks Zohran Mamdani’s Radical Agenda and Alleged Hamas Links

New York City stands at a critical juncture, facing a mayoral election that has brought to the forefront a deeply polarizing figure: Zohran Mamdani. Described as an “avowed socialist engaged in Marxist theory,” Mamdani’s platform and recent statements have ignited fierce debate, with Congressman Mike Lawler leading the charge in unmasking what he calls Mamdani’s “radicalism” and troubling associations.
A Radical Vision for New York?
According to critics, Mamdani’s policy proposals paint a stark picture for the future of the financial capital of the world. His agenda reportedly includes:
Defunding the police and shutting down prisons.
Legalizing prostitution.
Raising taxes by $9 billion on New York.
Freezing rent.
Implementing free busing.
Establishing government-run grocery stores.
Congressman Lawler expresses grave concern, stating, “This is who is on the verge of leading the financial capital of the world. And it is just disgraceful.”
The Direct Link to Hamas: UNRWA Funding Controversy
Perhaps the most explosive accusation leveled against Mamdani concerns his alleged direct link to Hamas. Lawler highlights Mamdani’s actions following the October 7th attacks:
“His comments over the last few weeks when it comes to Israel, when it comes to Hamas… the fact that he said Bibi Netanyahu should be arrested if he comes to New York, but had no opinion on whether Hamas should lay down its arms.”
Even more damning, Lawler points out that Mamdani was “raising money two weeks ago for UNRWA.” UNRWA (the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) has been “defunded by Congress because of its role on October 7th and the death of Americans… and he’s raising money for an organization that was housing Hamas, that had members of its organization working with Hamas on October 7th. It’s disqualifying. Period.”
Anti-Israel Stance and Blaming the Victim
Mamdani’s views on Israel have also drawn widespread condemnation, particularly from the Jewish community. He is accused of:
Supporting BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) against Israel.
Calling for an end to U.S. military aid to Israel.
Accusing Israel of apartheid.
Failing to acknowledge terror caused by Hamas.
Essentially blaming Israel in tweets for the October 7th attacks, just one day after the events.
These positions, coupled with his alleged associations, are seen as deeply alarming, especially in a city with a significant Jewish population and a strong connection to the events of 9/11.
A Troubling Trend and Political Isolation
The transcript reveals a broader concern: that Mamdani is not being elected despite his radical viewpoints, but because of them. This suggests a troubling shift in the values of a segment of New York City’s electorate.
“It’s not about him. It’s about the fact that he is being elected because of those things or that he’s gaining popularity with those things,” one commentator notes. “This is the reason he’s getting elected. This is the reason that… the nature of the city seems to be going in that direction.”
Even within the Democratic party, Mamdani appears to be an outlier. Lawler points out the reluctance of prominent Democrats like Hakeem Jeffries, Chuck Schumer, and Nancy Pelosi to fully endorse him, suggesting a significant discomfort with his ideology.
As early voting begins, the stakes are incredibly high. The potential election of Zohran Mamdani is seen by critics not just as a local political event, but as a “wakeup call” for the entire country, prompting introspection about the direction society is heading and the values being championed.
