Inside Randi Mahomes’ Life: Motherhood, Faith, and Being Patrick Mahomes’ Biggest Cheerleader
When you think of NFL stars, it’s easy to get caught up in the athletes themselves—their iconic plays, their statistics, and their rise to fame.
But behind every successful athlete, there’s often a story of family, support, and love. For Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, that person is his mom, Randi Mahomes.
Randi is no stranger to the spotlight, even though she’s not the one on the field. As the mother of one of the NFL’s brightest stars, she’s become a beloved figure in her own right.
But what makes Randi Mahomes truly special isn’t just her role as a supportive mom and grandmother—it’s her unwavering faith, her love for family, and her deep sense of resilience that defines her journey.
From Young Motherhood to Lifelong Bond
Randi Mahomes’ story began in Troup, Texas, where she grew up with a deep love for her roots. She’s never been shy about her pride in her home state, sharing glimpses of her Texan life on social media, whether it’s her adventures at the Houston Rodeo or just her daily moments with family. But it was motherhood that truly shaped her life.
Randi became a mother at the age of 20, when she gave birth to Patrick. It was a life-changing moment that she describes as “the best thing for me.” At such a young age, she could have easily been overwhelmed by the responsibilities of raising a child. But instead, Randi found herself growing alongside Patrick, learning as she went, and becoming the mother and woman she is today.
“Patrick is my first child,” Randi shared in a February 2024 interview with People. “I had him at a young age, and I don’t go out saying that’s the best thing to do, but it was the best thing for me just because it made me grow up.”
Her determination to provide for Patrick and his younger brother Jackson led her to work hard and ensure they had opportunities she never had growing up. Her dedication paid off, as both of her sons went on to achieve great things—Patrick becoming a Super Bowl champion and Jackson carving his own path in social media and entertainment.
Balancing Family Life and New Beginnings
Although Randi and Patrick’s father, Pat Mahomes, divorced in 2006, the two maintain a friendly and cooperative relationship. In fact, Randi spoke about how life as a single mom wasn’t always easy, especially during the holidays when she would wish for some “selfish” moments with her kids. Still, she makes it work and always finds joy in the togetherness that comes with Patrick’s football career.
“I want to be selfish and have them to myself,” Randi explained on the Got It From My Momma podcast. “To now, we have a football game that day, or when we do open gifts, there might be other people there, whether filming or doing something.”
But despite the changes that come with Patrick’s fame, Randi’s bond with her children, and especially her son Patrick, remains unshaken. “He had to mature fast,” Randi said. “I worked a lot, and I wanted them to have everything they weren’t gonna have anymore. I wanted them to have more than I did growing up.”
A Businesswoman with a Big Heart
While Randi’s role as a mother to two NFL athletes might be her most well-known title, she’s also a businesswoman in her own right. As an event planner at the Hollytree Country Club and the owner of a product line featuring Chiefs-themed items like totes, purses, and sunglasses cases, Randi is all about family and fun, while also staying grounded in her faith and passion for supporting others.
She’s active on social media, regularly posting glimpses of her family life and showcasing her entrepreneurial side. Randi also frequently supports causes close to her heart, including her advocacy for Variety KC, a charity dedicated to providing inclusivity and accessibility for children with disabilities. She’s even used her platform to help raise funds for important causes, such as accessible playgrounds and sports equipment for kids.
A Proud Mother, Cheerleader, and Advocate
Randi Mahomes’ role in Patrick’s life extends far beyond being a mom. She’s also his biggest cheerleader. Whether it’s defending her daughter-in-law Brittany Mahomes or gushing over Brittany’s recent Sports Illustrated photoshoot, Randi is fiercely supportive of her family. Her love for Brittany shines through in her public posts, especially when Brittany has faced any unwarranted criticism.
“I’ve seen all the pictures. I’ve seen all of that. I’m just in awe of her,” Randi shared with People after Brittany’s stunning photoshoot. It’s clear that Randi is not just a mother to Patrick, but also a strong, loving presence in the entire Mahomes family.
Her commitment to her faith, her work, and her children is nothing short of inspiring. Randi Mahomes proves that behind every great quarterback, there’s often a great mom, offering love, guidance, and strength every step of the way. And for Patrick, Jackson, and their younger sister Mia Randall, there’s no doubt that Randi is their number one fan—cheering them on every moment of their lives, on and off the field.
