Keanu Reeves and his long-term partner, Alexandra Grant, enjoyed a very loved-up date night after being hit by marriage rumours.

The Hollywood couple made headlines when speculation emerged that they had quietly tied the knot in a secret European ceremony over the summer.

The couple then broke their silence on the claims, setting the record straight as they insisted they are not married.

They dressed to the nines for the occasion and sweetly held hands as they proved they are as strong as ever.

They were first hit by wedding rumours when Alexandra was spotted wearing a shining gold band on her ring finger during a romantic lunch date in Los Angeles with Keanu, 61.

However, Keanu’s representative then clarified the rumours, telling E! News: “It is not true, they are not married.”

Alexandra also shut down the speculation in a post shared to Instagram on September 25, insisting no wedding had taken place.

She shared a sweet photograph of herself and Keanu sharing a kiss at Roden Crater in Arizona, but quipped in a caption that it wasn’t a “wedding announcement”.

She penned: “This is a real photo. Not an engagement photo or an AI wedding announcement… simply a kiss! (Albeit maybe the moment right before or after it… given the slightly goofy expressions on our faces!)

“We’re at Roden Crater, and Keanu and Gard had just finished interviewing James Turrell for Visionaries.

“I’m sharing it here to say thank you to everyone for the congratulations on our wedding. Except we didn’t get married. Good news is much needed these days, but it’s still fake news, so be careful out there!

“So, here’s a bit of real happiness!”

A well-placed source previously told New Idea that the couple’s friends would not be surprised to hear news of a secret wedding.

“All their friends were told [a wedding] would be happening soon, and that it would be done in private. So, it’s nothing short of glorious to see them like this,” they dished.

“Marriage is a very personal and private matter, and he’s fiercely protective of Alexandra.

“Their wedding was never going to be conventional – there were whispers they had a blessing from one of his guru friends in March, but they’re both incredibly happy right now … inseparable.”

From friends to lovers

The couple’s love story began in 2009 when they met at a dinner party. Two years later, they collaborated on Keanu’s book, Ode to Happiness, with Alexandra, an artist, serving as his illustrator.

A close friendship blossomed thanks to their shared passions for art and literature, and by 2019, their relationship had turned romantic.

They confirmed their union when they appeared hand in hand at a gala in LA together.

In a 2020 interview, Keanu, one of Hollywood’s most famous left-handed stars, called Alexandra “such a kind and thoughtful person”.

She has also praised the Speed star’s generosity, saying: “He’s an inspiration, someone who lives with such integrity.”

Before meeting Alexandra, Keanu was paired with a bevvy of beauties.

In fact, shortly before he went public with Alexandra in 2019, there were reports that Angelina Jolie was interested in him!

From 1991 to 1992, he was famously in a relationship with future Oscar-winning director Sofia Coppola.

Over the years, he has also been linked to Claire Forlani, Lynn Collins, The White Lotus’ Parker Posey, and British fashion queen Trinny Woodall.

In 1998, Keanu found love with actress Jennifer Syme. They had a daughter, Ava, in 1999, but she was devastatingly stillborn.

In a further tragedy, Jennifer died in a car crash two years later, leaving Keanu grief-stricken.
