Leo Messi rules out being a coach… but is unsure about his future
He gave an interview to Fabrizio Romano for ‘433’

In an interview with Fabrizio Romano for ‘433’, Leo Messi spoke about his future, the 2026 World Cup… and the fact that he does not want to be a coach once he hangs up his boots. The Argentine star, in fact, is quite clear about it.
Future: “I wouldn’t like to be a coach, but I’m still not sure what I’d like to do in the future.
I value much more than before everything I do on a day-to-day basis, so I just think about playing, training and having fun”.
World Cup 2026: “The truth is that I don’t know, I’ve been asked several times, especially in Argentina.
I hope to have a good end of the season and then a good pre-season, something I didn’t have last season because of all the travelling we did.
From there I want to see what happens, to realise how I feel. In football a lot of things always happen.
There is still a long way to go, so I’m not thinking too much about it. I’m going to live day to day without thinking too much about the future”.
Legacy: “Let people remember me as they want. I am very grateful for my career and for having achieved everything I have thanks to God.
My biggest dream was to win the World Cup, which I fought for a long time and which cost me a lot of effort.
I have been lucky enough to win everything with Barcelona, with the national team, and to have a wonderful life and family, so I am very grateful to God for everything I have been through, and I will let people remember me as they want.”
“We were happy and celebrated the achievement, because it was something difficult and important (to win the regular season).
We are aware that the real title we want is the MLS. During the year we had many very silly mistakes that we can avoid and that in these playoffs cannot happen to us because they can cost you elimination.
I think we are one of the favorites. There are also tough teams that are not going to give us anything, but I think the other teams also respect us.”
Project in Miami“The club does not set limits, that is the philosophy. This was demonstrated by everything they have done so far. We have to keep growing in order to be great within the MLS and why not, within the world.”
Messi’s Future: A Focus on the Present
In a recent interview with Fabrizio Romano, Lionel Messi provided insights into his future plans and his perspective on his illustrious career.
While the Argentine superstar remains committed to his current club, Inter Miami, he expressed uncertainty about his long-term goals.
When asked about the possibility of becoming a coach, Messi was clear: “I wouldn’t like to be a coach, but I’m still not sure what I’d like to do in the future.
I value much more than before everything I do on a day-to-day basis, so I just think about playing, training and having fun.”
Regarding his potential participation in the 2026 World Cup, Messi acknowledged the speculation but emphasized his focus on the present.
“The truth is that I don’t know,” he said. “I hope to have a good end of the season and then a good pre-season… From there I want to see what happens, to realize how I feel.”
Messi also reflected on his legacy, expressing gratitude for his achievements and the opportunities he has been blessed with.
He stated, “Let people remember me as they want. I am very grateful for my career and for having achieved everything I have thanks to God.”
Turning his attention to Inter Miami, Messi shared his optimism about the club’s future. He highlighted the club’s ambitious goals and their desire to establish themselves as a major force in MLS and beyond.
“The club does not set limits,” he said. “We have to keep growing in order to be great within the MLS and why not, within the world.”
