Jason Kelce Doesn’t Hold Back on Controversial Patrick Mahomes Calls

The Kansas City Chiefs advanced to the AFC Championship Game for the seventh consecutive year after defeating the Houston Texas in the divisional playoffs. Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and star tight end Travis Kelce once again teamed up to lead the Chiefs, who are seeking an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl title.

In the latest episode of Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast with his brother, former NFL star Jason Kelce, they dissected the game between Kansas City and Houston.

 

 

While Jason Kelce congratulated his younger brother, he said the Chiefs’ offense “had a little bit of rustiness.” He also brought up the controversial calls against the Texans, including unnecessary roughness in the third quarter. Many fans felt the whistle favored Mahomes.

While Travis Kelce chose to “plead the fifth,” Jason Kelce made his true feelings known. “Can I comment on it, though, right?” said the former Philadelphia Eagles center. “I think the second one was completely, just like, absolutely ridiculous, right? “I mean he didn’t even get touched. I don’t know. They (referees) just missed it.”

Travis Kelce maintained that the 29-year-old Mahomes “definitely got touched.” His older brother, however, doubled down on his observations.

“I could see what they (referees) saw, but I don’t think it was really that much forcible contact to his head,” added Jason Kelce. “I think it looked like it was, but it didn’t look like it was in slow motion. “But I understand why they called it. Just thought it was a bad call.”

Mahomes finished 16-of-25 for 177 yards and one touchdown. Travis Kelce, meanwhile, had game-highs of seven receptions and 117 yards. The Chiefs will renew their rivalry with the Buffalo Bills for the AFC crown on Sunday.
