Never say never, but I am getting really old’ USA’s Simone Biles on last time vaulting at Olympics
Paris, France – Simone Biles once again defied gravity and expectations, securing her seventh Olympic gold medal and solidifying her status as one of the greatest athletes of all time. The American gymnastics superstar dominated the women’s vault final on Saturday, leaving little doubt about her supremacy in the event.
Biles’ performance was nothing short of breathtaking. Her first vault, a jaw-dropping Yurchenko double pike (nicknamed the Biles II), earned a massive score of 15.700. With only a small step back, she demonstrated an unparalleled level of skill and control. Her second vault, while slightly less spectacular, still garnered a commendable 14.900, ultimately giving her an unbeatable overall score of 15.300.
Brazil’s Rebecca Andrade claimed silver, while fellow American Jade Carey took home the bronze.
However, the question on everyone’s lips after the victory was whether this would be the last time we see Biles compete on the Olympic stage. When asked if this was her final vault, the 27-year-old responded with characteristic wit, “Never say never, but I am getting really old.”
Biles’ future plans remain uncertain. While her performance on Saturday was a testament to her enduring talent, the physical and mental demands of gymnastics at the elite level are immense. Only time will tell if the world will be treated to another chapter in the Simone Biles story.
For now, the focus is on celebrating her latest triumph and acknowledging the extraordinary career of a truly exceptional athlete.
