Simone Biles Defends Husband Jonathan Owens After Controversial Interview

Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens took some heat last December for an interview he did on “The Pivot” podcast in which he claimed he was “the catch” in his relationship with Olympian Simone Biles and it wasn’t him that “pulled” her but she who “pulled” him.

His remarks struck a chord with Biles immense fanbase, many of whom started ripping Owens online and personally attacking him for his perceived arrogance.

But now, Biles has made it known how she really feels about everything that went down. In the upcoming Netflix docuseries “Simone Biles Rising Part II,” the 11-time Olympic medalist explained that everything was just a big misunderstanding.

“He did an interview and it was taken out of context,” Biles said, via Life & Style. “And then [my fans] became Jonathan’s biggest haters. … Social media gives them this false sense of reality that they really know who you are and how you function. Most of the time, they don’t understand the mental toll it takes, especially going into an Olympic year.”

Biles wasn’t offended by Owens’ comments, so it puzzled her why so many people outside of their marriage were so enraged over his interview.

She even started to take it personally when fans would leave hateful comments on Owens’ social media or drop rude responses on some of her own Instagram posts.

“Who’s going over to someone’s profile and saying who you can and can’t love?” Biles added. “Like, that’s just ridiculous. People are just … ugh.

“Most know how deeply personal the situation was for Biles, who confessed she had a breakdown because of it during an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast back in April.
