Patrick Mahomes opens up about managing time for Brittany and their family during busy NFL season

With back-to-back NFL games and various events, the Mahomes family has to make the most of their time off. Of course, the three-time Super Bowl champion has his own way of managing his family time.

During an interview with PEOPLE, Mahomes shared that he relies on FaceTime to feel closer to his family on game days and while on the road.

“It makes the distance feel a little smaller when I’m on the road,” Mahomes said.

While speaking to TIME, Mahomes spoke about his retirement and that he’ll probably know when it’s time to go.

“I’ve looked, if I played until Tom [Brady]’s age, my daughter would be 19, 20 years old. That would mean missing plenty of youth sporting events and other commitments.

“I would love to play that long. At the same time, I want to be there for my daughter. If I can do that, I’ll continue to play. But if I feel like it’s taking away from my family time, that’s when I’ll know it’s time to go.”
