Angel Reese lifts lid on ‘corny’ pickup lines people use to try and woo her

Angel Reese has spoken on pickup lines that she has received over the past year while becoming a high-profile figure and seeing her Instagram following explore while having her DM’s flooded

Angel Reese has admitted that she has received numerous ‘corny’ messages from men attempting to woo her while recently admitting that she remains single.

Reese had been in a relationship at the beginning of 2024, but had broken up with former Florida State basketball star Cam’Ron Fletcher in March. Since then, she has received hundreds of messages from men hoping to get a response, with the WNBA superstar speaking to rapper Lady London on the pick-up lines that they hate to see.

On the latest episode of her Unapologetically Angel podcast, Reese stated that the majority of the pick-up lines center around her height.

She said: “I feel like since I’m tall, the ‘climb the tree’ thing, that’s not cute… The ‘1-on-1 for your heart,’ that sucks. I feel like the tall jokes, that’s corny!”

Reese went on to insinuate that the majority of pick-up lines she receives are basketball-related, while Lady London also revealed a similar approach.

She said: “I don’t play basketball, but I had somebody put a basketball emoji in a DM and say, ‘My ball rolled into your court'”. She added: “Intention means nothing if execution is not present,’ Lady London explained. ‘I like something that’s well-thought-out, and I love somebody that has great attention to detail — [remembering] something that I may have mentioned once in passing. Little stuff like that, it all counts, it all matters, and it just shows the type of partner that you plan to be.”

Reese’s last known relationship had been with the aforementioned Fletcher, who stands at 6-foot-7, four inches taller than her, being one of the taller players in the WNBA.

While posting her ex-boyfriend before their breakup, Reese has suggested that she will look to keep her dating life private moving forward, while becoming tired of consistent assumptions made on her life since becoming the star that she now is.

Rumours had emerged that she had begun dating Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren. A few days later, she wrote on X: “Now i see why people hide relationships & keep everything private… like i don’t think i’ll ever openly share that part of my life with yall again until im married cause yall do THE MOST!” She added: “It will literally have to be all assumptions & speculations cause absolutely NOT.”
