🚨 California Governor Gavin Newsom Signals Possible 2028 Presidential Run — Eyes Post-2026 Midterms 🇺🇸🔥

SAN FRANCISCO — California Governor Gavin Newsom, one of the Democratic Party’s most prominent critics of President Donald Trump, has indicated he will seriously consider a run for the White House in 2028, but only after the 2026 midterm elections.

In a recent interview with “CBS Sunday Morning,” Newsom was asked if he would give a presidential campaign serious thought following the November 2026 vote. The term-limited governor responded candidly, “I’d be lying otherwise,” signaling his openness to a future national bid.

Newsom, known for his combative style and sharp critiques of Trump, has been steadily raising his national profile. He has adopted a social media strategy reminiscent of Trump’s own—utilizing all-caps posts, memes, and merchandise to engage a broader audience. This approach has positioned Newsom as a leading voice in the Democratic opposition, often sparring with Trump over key issues.

Recently, Newsom clashed with the former president over the deployment of the California National Guard in response to immigration protests and Trump’s controversial redistricting moves in Texas. In a counter move, Newsom has led an effort to redraw California’s congressional maps, aiming to add five Democratic U.S. House seats in response to the changes in Texas. Voting on the so-called Proposition 50 is currently underway, with results expected after November 4.

“I’m looking forward to who presents themselves in 2028 and who meets that moment. And that’s the question for the American people,” Newsom said in the interview, emphasizing the importance of leadership that resonates with the nation’s needs.

The ongoing feud between Trump and Newsom shows no signs of abating. Last Thursday, Trump acknowledged postponing a planned federal show of force in San Francisco after appeals from local tech executives and the city’s mayor—a post Newsom held from 2004 to 2011. In his interview, Newsom described Trump as an “invasive species,” saying, “He’s a wrecking ball. Not just the symbolism and substance of the East Wing,” referencing the demolition of that part of the White House to build a ballroom. “He’s wrecking alliances, truth, trust, tradition, institutions.”

Earlier this year, Newsom launched a podcast to brand himself as a centrist, engaging in conversations with influential figures across the political spectrum. Guests have included the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was tragically assassinated during a college campus tour; former Trump strategist Steve Bannon; Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who served as Kamala Harris’ running mate in 2024; and U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Kamala Harris is also keeping her options open regarding another presidential run. In a recent BBC interview, Harris expressed optimism about the prospect of a woman president in the near future, saying it could “possibly” be her. “I am not done,” Harris declared, though she has not yet decided whether to launch a 2028 campaign. She dismissed concerns about facing long odds, stating, “I’ve never listened to polls.”

Harris has been active in the media following the September release of her book, “107 Days,” which reflects on her experience stepping in as the Democratic presidential nominee after Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race. Ultimately, Harris lost to Republican President Donald Trump.

As the political landscape begins to shift toward the next presidential cycle, both Newsom and Harris remain influential figures to watch. Their decisions in the coming years could shape the Democratic Party’s strategy and leadership heading into 2028.
