Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are ready to defy gravity with a Wicked performance at the 97th Annual Academy Awards.
While Grande, 31, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter at the Golden Globes First-Time Nominee Celebration on Tuesday, Dec. 17 — both Grande and Erivo, 37, received nominations for that awards show — the actress and pop star expressed interest in performing at the Oscars should the opportunity arise
“Of course, we love singing with each other,” Grande said of potentially performing with Erivo live. “I’ll sing together absolutely anywhere anytime, especially in celebration of Wicked. And I love her, that’s my sister. Say the word, and we’ll be there.”
Wicked has emerged as one of 2024’s highest-grossing movies at the box office and one of its most critically acclaimed films. The movie received four total nominations for the Golden Globes, including those for Grande and Erivo’s performances as witches Glinda and Elphaba, respectively. The film tied with Conclave at the Critics Choice Awards for the most nominations — both movies are nominated in 11 categories at that awards show.

“We were just crying together and screaming, and we sent each other flowers immediately,” Grande previously told PEOPLE of her and Erivo’s reactions to their Golden Globe nominations. “I’m just really deeply proud of her and of us together and the work that we’ve done. And to see it be recognized is just so — the weight is more than I could have imagined.”
Grande and Erivo will have to wait until the Oscar nominations are announced on Jan. 17. 2025 to know whether their performances and their blockbuster musical film have received any nominations.

“We got to meet Steven Spielberg, that was also incredibly overwhelming and such an honor. And he was so kind, and it was just really exciting,” she said. “You have these idols in music and film, and then to hear a kind thing said about your work is really extraordinarily special.”
Wicked: Part One is in theaters now. The Golden Globe Awards will air on CBS and Paramount+ Sunday, Jan. 5, while the 97th Oscars take place Sunday, March 2.
