Kylie Kelce Said She Wouldn’t Have Told Jason Kelce If She Went Into Labor On A Game Day When Pregnant With Their First Child Because She Would Never “Steal” Him From The Eagles

“I’d tell you when I’m done, I’m not going to ask you to leave the game.”

Kylie Kelce has opened up about navigating being due to give birth to her and Jason Kelce’s first child, Wyatt, in the middle of football season — admitting she wouldn’t have told Jason if she went into labor on a game day.

For reference, Wyatt was born on Oct. 2, 2019, the time of year when NFL star Jason would have been booked and busy with the Philadelphia Eagles.

And during a recent podcast appearance, Kylie revealed that she was initially due to welcome her and Jason’s first child in May of that year, but they suffered a tragic miscarriage when she was 13 weeks pregnant.

“I was supposed to give birth in May, and then Wyatt was born in October, so that was a fun surprise,” she explained on the Sunday Sports Club podcast. “It was the heart of football season.”

Kylie then said that the “most frequent question” she was asked during this time was: “What happens if you go into labor on game day?” — and she insisted that Jason missing a game to be at the birth of their first child was never even an option.

“I am the type of person who’s just like: ‘I’m gonna do it,’” Kylie said. “So my answer to that, and a conversation that my husband and I had, was: ‘If I go into labor — because they stay in the hotel the night before — if I go into labor and you’re going to be playing a game while I’m pushing this baby out, I’m not telling you.’”

“Like, I’d tell you when I’m done,” she added. “I’m not going to ask you to leave the game. I would tell the necessary people who would get you off the field the fastest, and besides that, I’m good. I’m good!”

“We knew we were going to try and have more kids,” Kylie explained. “You’ll be there for the next one.”

And Kylie went on to say that she was shocked that so many people thought she would “steal” Jason away from the game.

“It fascinated me that these people were so invested in the fact that I might steal the Philadelphia Eagles center to watch his first child come into the world,” she said. “First of all, no. Second, we’ll be fine!”

Ultimately, Kylie ended up needing to be induced, which meant that she and Jason could plan Wyatt’s arrival around his schedule.

Speaking on the pod, Kylie said that she ended up giving birth on a Wednesday, and Jason “slept in the hospital.”

On the Thursday morning, he left Kylie and newborn Wyatt at the hospital to go to work.

“My dad had to come to the hospital to pick me and my new baby up,” Kylie added, going on to joke: “Just Ubering home, hitchhiking home from the hospital with our new baby!”

Needless to say, Kylie’s comments have divided people, with a clip from the interview causing a stir on TikTok.

“Omg I was expecting her to say then he’s not playing how is that a question? Like he doesn’t want to be there??? I am shocked,” one person commented.

“It’s one game and the birth of your actual child? How is this even a question???” another asked. “He should want to be there for his wife and baby!!”

“This is actually so sad.. nothing more important then family,” somebody else wrote, while one more comment echoed: “this is so toxic. football should never be more important than family.”

But others defended Kylie and Jason’s decision, with one person insisting: “She has her babies delivered at the hospital. It’s not like she’s at home giving birth. She’s just going in to have her baby delivered for her. Husband doesn’t need to be there.”

While another asked: “I mean lets be honest, what would he need to be there for?”

This isn’t the first time that the Kelces’ approach to parenting has got people talking, with Kylie’s revelation that Jason — who retired from the NFL last year — never watches their kids going viral in December.

Since Wyatt, the couple have welcomed two more children: 3-year-old Elliotte, and 23-month-old Bennett, and in November, Kylie revealed that she is pregnant with their fourth daughter.

On the premiere episode of her own podcast, Not Gonna Lie, Kylie was asked if Jason would be “watching the girls” while she records the show like she does when Jason is podcasting.

Furrowing her brows in confusion, Kylie laughed before wondering aloud: “How do I say this nicely?”

“No,” she then confirmed, appearing shocked that the question had been asked at all. “When I have to do something; coaching, something for Eagles Autism Foundation, podcast, a doctor’s appointment, even, I will schedule childcare.”

“My husband could tell me 72 times that he is going to be in the house during the times when I have to leave it,” Kylie went on to explain. “I will still schedule childcare.”

She then confirmed that this sometimes means Jason will be at home and available while somebody else is watching their kids, saying: “If that means that he’s at the house and someone else is there and that’s what we have going on, he will not be watching the kids.”

“He’s not watching the kids right now,” Kylie said, hastening to add: “I think he’s in meetings.”

And while everybody understood Jason not watching the kids if he is working, many were left stunned to learn that he doesn’t appear to share any of the burden of childcare with his wife.

One comment posted at the time read: “i would be genuinely embarrassed to admit this.”

Another popular response added: “it sounds like kylie also has a 37 year old son at home.”
