Megyn Kelly to Trump: “Don’t Pardon Diddy — He’s Not Worth It”

Political commentator and Trump supporter Megyn Kelly has publicly urged former President Donald Trump not to pardon Sean “Diddy” Combs, following reports that a pardon is under consideration after the music mogul’s recent conviction.

Kelly’s Strong Opposition

In a message posted Wednesday (July 30) on X (formerly Twitter), Kelly made her stance clear: “Trump should not pardon Diddy. He doesn’t deserve it.” She elaborated by highlighting Diddy’s past criticisms of Trump and allegations of abuse, writing, “He’s a Trump hater. He’s a woman abuser. MAGA is already upset over elites seeming to cover for each other. This would not help. GOP struggling w/young female voters, most of whom will HATE a Diddy pardon.”

Kelly’s comments come amid widespread speculation about Trump’s intentions. Reports indicate that the former president is “seriously considering” a pardon for Combs, who was recently found guilty of violating the Mann Act—federal charges related to the transportation of individuals for prostitution—but acquitted of more serious allegations, including sex trafficking and racketeering.

The Political Context

Kelly’s warning to Trump reflects broader concerns within the Republican base, particularly regarding the party’s image among young women. She argued that pardoning Diddy could further alienate this key demographic, especially as the GOP faces criticism for appearing to protect the powerful at the expense of justice for victims.

The political commentator also referenced rapper 50 Cent, who has reportedly reminded Trump of Diddy’s public criticisms of the former president.

Diddy’s Legal Troubles

Diddy’s trial concluded in early July after seven weeks of testimony, including statements from his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who alleged abuse and trafficking during their relationship. While Diddy denied all accusations, he now faces up to 20 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for October 3.

Trump’s Pardon Comments

The possibility of a pardon gained traction after a Deadline article cited administration sources claiming Trump’s team had moved from mere speculation to seriously considering clemency for Combs. Trump himself has previously commented on the matter, stating in May, “I would certainly look at the facts if I think somebody was mistreated, whether they like me or don’t like me,” and did not rule out the possibility of a pardon.

Despite their once-friendly relationship—Trump previously spoke fondly of Diddy, and the two were known to frequent similar social circles in New York—Kelly’s opposition underscores a division among Trump’s supporters over how to handle the high-profile case.

Kelly’s History With Trump

This is not the first time Kelly has publicly disagreed with Trump, particularly on issues relating to women. During Trump’s first presidential run in 2016, she was one of the few conservative voices to challenge his remarks about women. Despite later supporting him and calling him a “protector of women” in November, Kelly has remained outspoken when she believes his actions conflict with women’s interests.

Awaiting a Decision

As Diddy awaits sentencing, the debate over a potential pardon continues to grow, with high-profile voices like Megyn Kelly urging Trump to reconsider any move that could be perceived as favoring elites over justice.
