The NBA legend found himself banned from a top golf club after breaking one specific rule.

NBA legend Michael Jordan was once banned from a golf country club for life after breaking one strict rule.

There can be no doubt that Jordan is among the greatest basketball players of all time and is likely one of the best athletes in recent years, having an impressive six NBA championships during his career.

Since retiring from basketball for the third and final time in 2003, the American has been involved in several other sports including NASCAR racing and even open sea fishing.

While he has performed well in almost every sport he’s taken on, Jordan once got into trouble for breaking a serious rule while playing golf.

Back in 2012, Jordan, who is an avid golfer, decided to play a round at the prestigious La Gorce Country Club in Miami, but he failed to pay attention to the rules regarding the acceptable dress code while playing.

According to the L.A. Times, the NBA legend showed up the the course wearing a pair of cargo shorts, which were strictly forbidden, and managed to play 11 holes of the 18 hole course before he was approached by club staff.

Jordan was asked to return to the clubhouse and change into more suitable clothing, but the six-time NBA champion refused and was therefore asked to leave the premises after being handed a ban.

Reacting to the incident, Jordan’s rep released the following statement: “Michael Jordan did wear cargo pants. He had been there many times before and had worn cargo pants previously, and had never been made aware that he was violating any dress code.

“This time, he was made aware of the violation on the 12th hole, and at that point he did refuse to interrupt his game, and return to the clubhouse and change.

“We were not aware that he is not allowed to return to La Gorce. I guess it’s their loss – as MJ is a great golfer, and a great guest.”

It’s not the first time that Jordan’s choice of clothing has gotten him in trouble, as throughout his basketball career he regularly received $5000 fines for neglecting a a strict NBA rule that prohibited him from wearing his iconic Nike ‘Air’ shoes while playing.
