Michael Jordan’s Air Jordans Are the Latest Shoes to Become Sneaker Loafers
Early details on the upcoming Air Jordan Loafer Mule set to be released in 2025.
After New Balance kicked off the viral sneaker loafer movement in 2024, the trend quickly proliferated across the industry, bringing brands such as Hoka into the mix and sparking renewed interest in previous loafer designs from the likes of Converse and Mizuno. With much debate over where the concept is heading next, a familiar yet unexpected label is throwing its hat into the ring.
New e-commerce product images have surfaced of an Air Jordan Loafer Mule set to be released in 2025 exclusively for women. Unlike some of the other trending sneaker loafers, the upcoming style doesn’t appear to feature the underfoot tooling of a previous model. Instead, the model opts for a thick, multi-layered midsole with an outsole traction pattern reminiscent of the Air Jordan 3’s pivot point configuration.
Up top, the Air Jordan Loafer Mule keeps things relatively traditional with a shiny black leather upper fashioned in the silhouette of a loafer with the backless opening of a mule. A silver engraved Air Jordan badge sits atop the mid-foot band and Air Jordan branding is also etched on the footbed. Overall, the look is somewhat reminiscent of Prada’s Monolith loafers, although the upcoming Air Jordan look will likely retail for a fraction of the price.

Although this particular loafer mule is a new design for Nike Inc.’s Jordan Brand, it’s not the first time the label has ventured into the formal footwear space. In the early 2000s, the brand launched the short-lived Jordan Two3 collection which included apparel and dressier shoe options such as loafers, boots, moccasins and slip-ons. The line was eventually discontinued in 2003.
Specifics regarding the Air Jordan loafer mule are currently scant, but early information from leaker @EldenMonitors and overseas websites suggests the Black/Metallic Silver women’s exclusive colorway will arrive at retail before the end of the year. Pricing has not been confirmed.
