Paris Jackson Celebrates 5 Years of Sobriety From Alcohol and Heroin With Moving Message
Paris Jackson, the only daughter of Michael Jackson, marked a milestone in her ongoing sobriety journey from alcohol and heroin.
Paris Jackson is celebrating another chapter in her sobriety journey.
The only daughter of the late Michael Jackson marked five years sober from alcohol and heroin with a powerful message about what it means to her to feel all the ups and downs life has to offer.
“Hi, I’m PK and I’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict. Today marks 5 years clean & sober from all drugs and alcohol,” the 26-year-old wrote on Instagram Jan. 7. “To say that I’m thankful would be a poor euphemism. Gratitude hardly scratches the surface. It’s because I’m sober that I get to smile today. I get to make music. I get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat. I get to feel heartbreak in all its glory.”
“I get to grieve. I get to laugh. I get to dance. I get to trust,” Paris continued. “I feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm. I’ve found that life keeps happening regardless of whether I’m sober or not, but today I get to show up for it. Here’s a little snapshot of what has been possible because of my sobriety, and my god I can’t believe I almost missed it all. Thanks.”
Her heartfelt note was accompanied by a video that compares her life in the middle of her struggle with addition to how it has changed since she’s gotten sober.
As the video begins, Paris is smoking and drinking excessively on camera during social events, parties and privately. As the video progresses, the “Let Down” singer is seen crying, before things take a turn and she is shown smiling more, and not doing drugs or drinking. She even shares cute moments with her fiancé Justin Long.

When the video ends, a final message of gratitude flashes across the screen.
“For those that helped me on this journey, if only just the beginning, middle, or the whole time so far, you know who you are and I owe you my life, thank you,” she wrote. “5 years, Thank God.”
Just weeks before Paris celebrated her latest sobriety milestone she marked another major life event: her engagement to producer and bandmate Justin. And she announced the news with a sweet birthday tribute dedicated to her love.
“Happy birthday my sweet blue,” she began her Dec. 6 Instagram post. “Doing life with you these last years has been an indescribable whirlwind and i couldn’t dream of anyone more perfect for me to do it all with.”
She continued, “Thank you for letting me be yours. I love you.”
