Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens tonight at Saturday Night’s Main Event. WWE analyst Peter Rosenberg predicted the outcome of the highly anticipated clash.
The American Nightmare and The Prizefighter’s friendship ended at Bad Blood when the latter attacked the Undisputed WWE Champion following his partnership with Roman Reigns against The Bloodline. The two have since been involved in a heated feud. Their rivalry will come to a head tonight as Rhodes will put his title on the line against the former Universal Champion.
Speaking on his Cheap Heat podcast, Rosenberg predicted that Rhodes would retain his title at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The former 24/7 Champion pointed out that he could not see any reason why the company would book Owens to dethrone The American Nightmare tonight:
“I don’t think it’s gonna happen [Owens beating Rhodes]… I don’t see any reason why it would. You finally bring back this huge franchise where you get put on network television. This is going to be a night where they get viewers, lapsed viewers are back, lapsed fans tune in onto Saturday Night’s Main Event and go, ‘What’s going on here?’ And they’re gonna go, ‘What’s going here is Cody Rhodes is down bad,'” he said. WWE won’t book Kevin Owens to dethrone Cody Rhodes for major reason, according to wrestling veteran
On the Straight Talk with the Boss podcast, wrestling veteran Magnum T.A. also addressed the upcoming battle between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The 65-year-old claimed the company would not have the title change hands because of Rhodes’ merchandise sales:
“Oh, you could tell an amazing story that way [Owens beating Rhodes], you know. Are the merchandising people gonna let that happen? Probably not. You know, I mean, it’s all, at the end of the day, about, you know, money,” he said.
It would be interesting to see if Cody Rhodes would indeed leave Long Island with the championship.
