The one-time San Antonio resident knows Texas real estate.

Shaquille O’Neal has never done anything small. The 7-foot Hall of Fame NBA legend and one-time San Antonio resident continues to leave a massive footprint in the basketball world, and with his growing chicken chain, but he’s also been looking for a new home in the Lone Star State.

After buying a mansion in North Texas, and selling it two years later for $1.7 million, Shaq told MySA that he is now looking for a ranch within close vicinity of the Alamo City.

“I saw a ranch in New Braunfels that I was really looking at,” Shaq said during Final Four festivities on Saturday, April 5. “I would love to get a ranch in San Antonio or close to San Antonio. So I’m looking. So anybody that has big Texas ranches for sale, contact me.”

Shaq didn’t share which New Braunfels ranch he was looking at, but the historic German town has become a hot spot for Texans and transplants looking for an escape from city life. So, while fans wait for a taste of Shaq’s Big Chicken chain to hit San Antonio, here are a few New Braunfels spots he could soon call home.

Circle S Ranch

A nature-filled country estate with a pool and lookout tower, Circle S Ranch is a 40-acre, three-bed, two-bath home that merges the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country with modern comforts. Just five miles from downtown New Braunfels, the $5.4 million property is a steal for the four-time NBA champion.

Lazy River Ranch

While not actually a ranch, Shaq could secure his own private Schlitterbahn by buying the $1.2 million New Braunfels home with its own lazy river. It’s not too far-fetched to picture the former MVP floating down the water. Who knows, maybe he’ll also float the Comal?

Saving Grace Ranch

If Shaq is willing to go outside of New Braunfels, this Comal County property offers 89 acres of open terrain to practice his horse riding to go along with a three-bedroom home that has been standing since 1867. Luckily for Shaq it’s been renovated with all modern comforts, listing for $3.25 million.

Bear Creek Ranch

Lastly, if Shaq wanted to be surrounded by the titular hills of the Texas Hill Country, he’ll want to grab the 12-acre Bear Creek Ranch. Although it doesn’t have a massive home, the $1.49 million property more than accommodates anyone wanting to escape from the city life, while also having easy access to San Antonio or New Braunfels.

Naturally, Shaq can find even more ranches if he broadens his search to the entire Texas Hill Country. For now, let’s keep an eye out for sightings of DJ Diesel in a cowboy hat and riding a horse. Safe to say he can afford whichever ranch he sets his eyes on.
