Shaquille O’Neal Announces All-Star Project 5366 Miles Away From America Despite Past Failure
Shaquille O’Neal is no stranger to making an entrance, and his trip to 5366 miles away last August was no exception. Taking a break from his DJ Diesel persona, the Lakers legend arrived in Poland as part of his marketing campaign, “Hey, this is SHAQ,” promoting his brand and Reebok. But while his 7-foot-1 presence was enough to turn heads, what really got people talking was an unexpected moment on the court.
During his two-day visit, which featured everything from a celebrity basketball game to a VIP zone, Shaq found himself in the middle of a dunk contest. Positioned as a prop, the towering Hall of Famer watched as a player attempted to soar over him. However, things didn’t go as planned. Instead of landing a highlight-worthy dunk, the player struggled mid-air and ended up sitting right on Shaq’s massive shoulders.
Meanwhile, the crowd held their breath, but Shaq? He couldn’t stop laughing. The moment was too good to ignore, and the big man made sure to capture it. Sharing the clip on Instagram, he cracked a joke in the caption, “This dunk was nutz.” Throughout the video, his booming laughter filled the arena, and before it ended, he even pointed at the camera—just to make sure they got it all on film.
But while the dunk attempt might have been a flop, Shaq is making sure Polish hoopers don’t miss out on a real basketball spectacle. Announcing a brand-new event, he declared, “Poland, it’s Shaq. The biggest basketball event is coming. Shaq All-Stars League is going to be huge. You don’t want to miss it. Click the link and get your tickets. Be a part of history.”
So, when’s it happening? March 29. Where? PreZero Arena Gliwice in Poland. If you’re interested, check out the SHAQ All-Stars League’s Instagram for updates. But here’s the real question—was this trip just about basketball, or was there another reason Shaq chose Poland?
Shaquille O’Neal’s Poland trip wasn’t just about hoops
Shaquille O’Neal’s visit to Poland was also about business. The CCC Group had just added the ‘Shaq’ brand and Reebok to its latest collection, rolling out a fresh autumn-winter lineup. The collection featured a mix of neutral classics and bold color combos—think lilac and lime or vibrant pink and green—giving sneakerheads plenty of options to choose from.
Walking through a CCC store, Shaq was spotted among excited fans, soaking in the moment. An Instagram post from the time showcased multiple clips from the store, along with a series of Reebok sneakers. “Shaquille O’Neal continues to expand his successful sneaker business by entering the markets in Poland and across Europe,” the caption read.
According to the CCC Group’s official website, it became one of Reebok’s five global partners, further strengthening the brand’s presence.
But Shaq and Reebok? Shaq’s history with Reebok goes all the way back to 1992 when he first signed with them fresh out of college as a marketing move.
But when ABG acquired Reebok, Shaq was named President of Reebok Basketball in 2023, solidifying his influence in the sneaker world. Now, with this latest expansion into Poland, his partnership with Reebok is stronger than ever.
