On Wednesday, March 26, the former first lady and the NBA star are joining forces to announce the launch of PLEZi Hydration. The bottled beverage is a “healthier” sports hydration drink, according to a press release, and was created by the politician and athlete.
“At PLEZi Nutrition, we’re always looking for ways to shake up the conversation around nutrition and make healthier choices easier for everyone,” Obama tells PEOPLE exclusively. “It’s been such a great journey teaming up with our good friends, Stephen and Ayesha Curry, to create a game-changing sports hydration drink.”
“With input from registered dietitians, PLEZi Hydration is packed with more potassium, less sugar, and lower sodium — all while tasting great,” she adds. “We’re proud to offer a better option for anyone looking to stay active and hydrated without compromise.

The drinks come from PLEZi Nutrition, a Public Benefit Company focused on providing healthy options to families nationwide that the Becoming author cofounded.
The basketball star, who recently became the first-ever NBA player to record 3,000 career three-pointers, his wife Ayesha Curry and Kristen Bell are all investors and brand partners in the company.
The drinks come in three flavors: Tropical Punch, Orange Mango Twist and Lemon Lime. All iterations have 12g of sugar in each bottle (which is less than half of the 28g found in “leading” sports drinks), 120mg of sodium (versus 230mg in other brands), 500mg of potassium (others have 70mg) and 90mg of vitamin C (the full daily dose suggested).

Stephen regards the drinks as having “smart ingredients and unbeatable flavor” and being important for fueling people “the right way.” “The next generation deserves better,” he said in a press release.
For the IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson host, collaborating with the “longtime friend” on the drinks was ideal for creating something for active people. “We’re excited to provide a delicious, healthier option for everyone who’s trying to get active and stay hydrated,” she said in a statement.
The drinks are available nationwide on Amazon and in-store at Walmart, Albertsons, Safeway and more grocers in California. PLEZi Hydration is sold in 16.9-oz. bottles for $2.29.

Michelle Obama is launching a “healthier sports hydration drink” with NBA star Stephen Curry that she says is part of an effort to “change the game when it comes to nutrition.”
Obama and Curry announced Wednesday they’re behind the new drink, called PLEZi Hydration.
“Created with the help and expertise of registered dietitians, PLEZi Hydration not only tastes great, but it also has more potassium, half the sugar, and less sodium,” Obama said in a statement about the product.
The drink comes in three flavors — tropical punch, lemon lime and orange mango twist — and will be sold nationwide for $2.29 a bottle on Amazon and in stores across California, including Walmart, Safeway and Albertsons.
The former first lady touted the drink as giving “active people the hydration they need — and reduces what they don’t.”
“We’re excited to provide a delicious, healthier option for everyone who’s trying to get active and stay hydrated,” Obama, 61, said.
Obama co-founded PLEZi Nutrition, described as a public benefit company “on a mission to create higher standards for how the U.S. makes and markets food and beverages for kids,” in 2023. As first lady, Obama made her childhood-obesity prevention initiative, “Let’s Move,” one of her major focuses.
In the announcement about the new drink, Curry called PLEZi Hydration a “game-changing hydration beverage that I believe can make a real difference for anyone looking to perform at their best.”
“No nonsense, no shortcuts — because the next generation deserves better,” the Golden State Warriors point guard said.
