Mercedes Mone seems to be on her way to AEW, which makes WWE’s decision to share her WrestleMania main event a surprising one.
Mercedes Mone walked out of WWE in May 2022 when she was still known to fans as Sasha Banks. She eventually received her release from the company heading to Japan where she competed for New Japan Pro Wrestling and held the IWGP Women’s Championship.
In May 2023, Mone was injured while battling Willow Nightingale in a tournament final to crown the first NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship and she has been out of action ever since. At different times, Mercedes Mone was expected to be heading back to WWE but many expected her to head to AEW after she appeared on-screen for the company at All In in August 2023.
Now Mercedes Mone looks to be on her way to AEW imminently with her debut heavily rumoured for the Big Business edition of Dynamite taking place in her hometown of Boston on the 13th of March.
WWE Surprisingly Shares Huge Sasha Banks Bout
Now, one week before that takes place, WWE has shared Mone’s full WrestleMania 37 main event against Bianca Belair on YouTube. The match was only the second time women had competed in a WrestleMania main event and marked the first time two African-American women were able to do so.
Whether or not WWE would be happy to share the match given Mercedes Mone’s next career move if she had won the WrestleMania match will likely never be known.
Many were surprised that WWE paid tribute to AEW star Sting on Raw after the final match of his career at Revolution.
