Abandoned Dog with Chain Embedded in Her Neck Needs Our Help to Heal

Meet Reddy.
The eight-month-old pit bull mix has never experienced love and is fearful of humans. She has been mistreated her whole life until she was found by an elderly relative after her owner went to prison.
The woman was unable to remove the tight chain embedded in the poor dog’s neck and called Gateway Pet Guardians in tears asking for help.

The dog was surrendered to the rescue and immediately seen by a veterinarian.
Reddy was in a lot of pain and had stopped eating. She was started on pain medication and sedated to remove the thick chain with bolt cutters.

Once the tormenting chain was removed, the deep wounds and infected skin were treated.
The rescue has found her a foster home where she is slowly recovering and learning to trust humans.

She will need to remain on antibiotics to prevent an infection as her wounds heal. She has a long road to recovery – both physically and emotionally.
Greater Good Charities’ Emergency Animal Medical fund is helping with her medical bills and ongoing care. Join us in giving Reddy the second chance she deserves.

Pets receiving critical care facilitated by an Emergency Animal Medical grant may not be eligible for adoption until they have completed their course of treatment. If you would like to inquire about adoption of a specific animal, we strongly encourage you to visit the shelter’s specific website first as that is often the most up to date place to learn about available pets and review the adoption policies and process.
Help us meet our goal of $3,000 for Reddy and pets like her. Your gift will not only give her the hope to keep fighting, but your donations will help cover her ongoing care.
DONATE to Emergency Animal Medical
