A major return is underway on General Hospital, but something feels familiar!
General Hospital fans got their confirmation that the Britt-looking woman is, in fact, Britt, back from the dead. Though Jason has his suspicions, so far, she’s just living her life, hiding out in Europe, giving herself mysterious shots, and making mysterious phone calls to mysterious bosses. Why her reintroduction is giving us Lucky flashbacks, and why that’s not a good thing.
Luck’s Return
Gh fans were excited to see Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) back in Port Charles. Except he wasn’t back in Port Charles. For what felt like weeks and weeks, we were forced to watch Lucky not in Port Charles, but locked up somewhere, sporting greasy hair and playing endless games of cards, while Holly (Emma Samms) periodically popped in, then wafted out again.
Yeah, we got one fantasy sequence with Elizabeth (Rebecca Hearbst). But fans didn’t want to watch Lucky dreaming about Elizabeth. We wanted to see him WITH Elizabeth—if only so she could tell him what a jerk he was for regularly abandoning her and the kids the way he has. We realize the writers thought they were building suspense. But what they were actually building was frustration. And by the time Lucky did finally return to his hometown, he was indifferent.

Britt’s Return
Now we’re seeing the same playbook with Britt (Kelly Thiebaud—why she can’t stay away from GH). Jason (Steve Burton) is talking about her, and Liesl (Kathleen Gatti) is talking about her. This is all supposed to make us more excited about knowing something they don’t know—Britt is alive! We realize the writers think they’re building a suspect.
But we are afraid they’re making the same mistake with Britt as they did with Lucky. If her return—like his—is scheduled to be brief, wasting weeks and weeks on a game of hide and seek will not lead to a satisfying storyline.
