Cruz Calls Out Democratic Silence

From the very start, Cruz’s message was clear and cutting. “How shocking is it that there wasn’t one Democrat? Not a single one could screw up the courage to say, ‘Let’s do our job. Let’s hear the evidence.’” With 51 Democrats present, Cruz expressed disbelief that not one was willing to stand up and demand accountability, especially as the nation faces unprecedented threats at its southern border.

Cruz accused the Democrats of ignoring the dangers posed by terrorists streaming across the border, referencing recent calls for jihad against America by Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah. “Joe Biden and the Democrats have put out a red carpet and said, ‘If you want to murder Americans, come across our southern border and we, the Democrats, will welcome you.’”

Recalling 9/11 and National Unity

Cruz’s speech took a somber turn as he recalled the horrors of September 11th, 2001. He spoke of losing a friend, Barbara Olsen, in the Pentagon attack and the unity that swept the nation in the aftermath. “I don’t know that I’ve ever been more proud of a president than when President George W. Bush stood in a pile of rubble with a bullhorn talking to firefighters and New Yorkers.”

The House impeached Alejandro Mayorkas for releasing terrorists, among other charges, but Cruz argued that Democrats refused to even hear the evidence. “I believe today we have a greater risk of a major terrorist attack on US soil than at any point since September 11th. And every Democrat just told the American people it doesn’t matter to them to hear the evidence.”

He praised his Republican colleagues for their willingness to stand up and defend the American people, contrasting their actions with the Democrats’ absence.

Cruz didn’t reserve his criticism for politicians alone. He looked up at the press gallery and noted its emptiness. “The reporters are absent. That’s the Democrats’ plan.” According to Cruz, the media’s absence allows them to write one-sided stories, ignoring the suffering and evidence presented on the Senate floor.
