Cody or Michael: Who’s the Better Man for GH’s Molly?

Should Molly’s next love interest be Cody or Michael?

Since her relationship with TJ fell apart, General Hospital’s Molly has been seriously lacking in the love department and focusing all her attention on her career. Of late, the character appears ready to delve into a new romance. While Cody originally seemed to be the guy the show’s writers were gearing up to couple her with, a recent scene with Michael has had viewers wondering about another pairing. The question is, Who’s the better man for Molly: Cody or Michael?

First Love, Last Love

Either guy would be an interesting match for Molly (Kristen Vaganos), the levelheaded and by-the-book daughter of Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Rick (Rick Hearst). Molly’s only really been seriously involved with one man in her life, TJ (Tajh Bellow), an honest, respectable doctor, although she did have a one-night stand with the late Brando (Johnny Wactor). But Molly is first and foremost a one-man woman, so whoever she chooses to get involved with next is going to get her full attention.

Cowboy Cody

Molly’s friendship with Cody (Josh Kelly — who clears the air) has had its ups and downs since they first crossed paths. Originally, she was turned off by his brash antics and brushes with the law, but as time has gone by, she’s come to appreciate his sweet, softer side. Cody has even ridden to her rescue a time or two — once literally.

Clearly, accepting Kristina’s (Kate Mansi) job to seduce Ava (Maura West) was a step backwards for Cody, but to be fair, he was persuaded to take it because Kristina convinced him that Molly wanted Ava out of her father’s life. Cody’s totally different from the men Molly’s known, so he’d be a nice change of pace. Plus, he’s brought out the fun, lighter side of the usually buttoned-up Molly, and it’s been refreshing to see this new version of her. If Molly wants more fun and less predictability in her life, Cody might be the man for her.

Level-Headed Michael

Michael (Rory Gibson — here’s what you need to know), on the other hand, is a more grounded and stable option. After being cheated on by his wife, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), a woman he was totally devoted to, his whole world has been turned upside-down. Molly could be the woman to help him heal.

Plus, she’s always wanted to be a mother, and Michael comes with a ready-made family: a son, Wylie, and a daughter, Amelia. Gibson and Vaganos had lovely chemistry in recent scenes, where Molly confided in Michael about her frustrations with Cody. Although he encouraged her to consider giving Cody another chance, perhaps he might be a better option for Molly.

Unlike Cody, Michael appears to have a calming influence on the high-strung Molly. Life with him would likely be more predictable and similar to the one she had with TJ. So if Molly wants more of the same, Michael might be the man for her.
