A political firestorm is brewing as Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has publicly revealed details of a heated private phone call with Donald Trump — and at the center of the dispute are the long-awaited Epstein files.

The stunning disclosure came from Greene’s upcoming interview with 60 Minutes, where she confirmed that her once-close relationship with Trump unraveled over her decision to support the release of classified documents tied to convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. According to Greene, Trump was “extremely angry” when he learned she had signed a discharge petition demanding transparency.

“We did talk about the Epstein files,” Greene said during the interview. “And he was extremely angry at me that I had signed the discharge petition to release the files. I fully believe that those women deserve everything they’re asking for. They deserve it — and he was furious with me.”

When asked what Trump said during the call, Greene replied simply, “He said that it was going to hurt people.”

That single statement has ignited widespread speculation. Critics argue that Trump’s warning about people getting hurt was less about protecting victims and more about protecting himself. Trump’s name has reportedly appeared in Epstein-related records in the past, and his long social history with Epstein has been well documented.

Greene’s remarks mark a dramatic breach between two figures who were once politically inseparable. For years, she stood among Trump’s loudest defenders in Congress. But their alliance fractured after she backed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which sought to legally force the Department of Justice to release Epstein-related evidence.

At the time, reports surfaced that Trump personally called Republican lawmakers who supported the bill, urging them to remove their names. None reportedly complied.

After Trump eventually reversed course and publicly endorsed the legislation, Greene stunned Washington by announcing her resignation from Congress. In her statement, she said she could not subject her district to a brutal primary battle instigated by the president.

“I have too much self-respect and dignity,” Greene said. “I love my family way too much, and I do not want my district to endure a hateful primary against me by the president we all fought for.”

Inside Trump’s political circle, the fallout was immediate. The former president reportedly lashed out publicly at Greene, branding her “wacky,” “crazy,” and a “traitor.”

Meanwhile, the clock is ticking on the Epstein files themselves.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act was signed into law on November 19 and legally mandated that all files be released within 30 days. As of early December, that deadline is rapidly approaching — and the documents have still not been made public.

Now, bipartisan pressure is mounting. Five members of Congress from both parties and both chambers have formally demanded a briefing and urgent status update from Attorney General Pam Bondi. In their letter, lawmakers wrote that they are “particularly focused on understanding the contents of any new evidence, information, or procedural hurdles that could interfere with the DOJ’s ability to meet the statutory deadline.”
