On The Breakfast Club, all three—Jeffrey, Jasmine, and Marcus—quickly shot down the idea of ever wearing anything besides Jordans growing up. To top it off, Jasmine even confessed that she wasn’t allowed to wear light-up Skechers as a 7-year-old.

Decades after Nike made that $250,000 gamble on a young MJ—a move that completely reshaped sneaker culture—Jordan is still calling out anyone who dares step into his space rocking anything that doesn’t have a Swoosh. This time, it wasn’t a rapper. It was a 63-year-old comedian just trying to enjoy a golf match.

Now, according to Lopez, things were going smoothly at MJ’s golf event. “You know, we were in there and there’s probably like 20 guys and MJ’s right there,” he said, setting the scene. He didn’t think anything was off. After all, it’s not every day you get to hang out with His Airness, sip drinks, and swap jokes. “We’re drinking, laughing, gets up, and he goes, ‘Hey, George, you come back anytime, man, my place is your place,’” Lopez remembered fondly.
