Take your son to work day

Elon Musk was photographed touring Tesla’s Gigafactory in Texas on Monday, accompanied by one of his 11 children, during a meeting with Hungarian President Katalin Novák to discuss the global demographic crisis.

The billionaire and owner of X (formerly Twitter) welcomed Novák to Austin after missing the biannual Demographic Summit in Budapest the previous week. Musk, who has repeatedly raised concerns about population decline, was seen carrying his son, X Æ A-12 (commonly referred to as X), on his shoulders as he gave Novák a tour of the facility.

Following their private discussions, Musk posted on X: “Having children is saving the world.” Novák echoed the sentiment on Facebook, referring to Musk as an “ally” in the “freedom fight of families.”

Novák wrote: “With Elon Musk, we discussed how we can encourage young people to have the courage to say yes to having children. Childlessness is the most worrying feature of our time.”

She elaborated on her visit, describing Musk as a supporter of Hungary’s pro-family policies: “We talked for a long time about the war in Ukraine, and we agreed that an immediate ceasefire and lasting peace are needed. I am particularly glad that Elon understood the concerns of Transcarpathian Hungarians.”

Hungary, under the leadership of the national-conservative Fidesz party, has implemented various “pro-family” initiatives to address its declining population of 9.6 million. These include a 2015 housing scheme for young couples and a 2019 lifelong tax exemption for women with four or more children.

Elon Musk took to X after the meeting on population collapse to write: ‘Having children is saving the world’

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan (R) meets with Elon Musk (L) ahead of the 78th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly at the Turkish House in New York, September 17

Musk, a vocal advocate for addressing population collapse, had planned to attend the Budapest summit, where figures like Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and psychologist Jordan Peterson spoke. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán emphasized the need for “family-friendly, conservative powers” across Europe to address the demographic crisis.

Musk has expressed concerns about declining fertility rates on multiple occasions, previously tweeting: “Population collapse is a major risk to the future of civilization.”

Recently, Musk and his son X Æ A-12 were also seen during a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in New York. Erdoğan, who was attending the UN General Assembly, asked Musk, “Where is your wife?” to which Musk responded: “She’s in San Francisco. We’re separated; I take care of him mostly.”

X, who seemed more intrigued by the cameras than the conversation, is one of Musk’s three children with musician Grimes. The couple, who “semi-separated” in 2021, also share a daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk (nicknamed Y) and a third child named Techno Mechanicus, as revealed in a biography by Walter Isaacson.

In total, Musk has 11 children with three women. He shares twins Griffin and Vivian (born in 2004) and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian (born in 2006) with his first wife, Canadian author Justine Wilson, whom he divorced in 2008. Their first son, Nevada Alexander Musk, tragically passed away at 10 weeks old in 2002.

Additionally, Musk welcomed twins with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis in November 2021.

Despite his immense wealth, Musk remains vocal about the risks of population collapse and the importance of having children, reiterating his belief that “having children is saving the world.”
