Super Bowl week is here. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles are already in New Orleans taking part in the festivities. Opening night took place on Monday as players from both sides spoke to the media in anticipation of the big game.

This clash has a special meaning for Chiefs backup QB Carson Wentz. The former Eagles starter will be facing Philadelphia as he hopes to win his second Lombardi Trophy. In his remarks to the press, Wentz spoke fondly of his time in Philly and said he has no hard feelings towards the organization, per NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark.

Carson Wentz Wishes Things Ended Differently in Philadelphia

Wentz was among a ton of familiar faces at the Superdome, including Jalen Hurts, who the Eagles chose over him when they traded him to the Colts in the 2021 offseason. Following his benching during the 2020 season, Wentz’s relationship with the organization had soured to a point of no return.

“I owe a lot to my time there. I had a lot of fun. Obviously, I wish it would have ended differently. That’s just kind of the nature of this business. But a lot of great memories, for sure.”

The Eagles were hoping Wentz would be their franchise quarterback for a long time, but things were never the same after his ACL tear, which led to Nick Foles carrying Philadelphia to a miraculous Super Bowl run.

He was never able to re-discover his early career form and has been a journeyman QB since then, playing for the Washington Commanders and the Los Angeles Rams before joining the Chiefs as Patrick Mahomes’ backup this season.

Things have certainly worked out for the Eagles since moving on from Wentz, making their second Super Bowl in three seasons. At the same time, with Wentz having a chance at a second Super Bowl ring, things have worked out quite well for him as well.
