Former NFL QB turned media analyst Robert Griffin III debunks Chiefs conspiracy theories with some cold hard facts

Things aren’t quieting down in regards to NFL referees showing favoritism to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Winners of three of the last five Super Bowls, fans of other teams from across the league have grown increasingly frustrated with the Chiefs’ dominance. Outcries have only gotten louder this year as Kansas City went 15-2 during the regular season and have reached their third consecutive Super Bowl.

Dating back to last season, the Chiefs have mastered how to come out on top during tight games. Since December of 2023, they have won 17 straight one-score matchups. This has had led many fans, as well as opposing teams, to cope by determining that the NFL, through the referees, have rigged things for K.C. to continue to win.

It’s obviously a ridiculous notion, which sensible fans and analysts alike know. One of those who do not support the idea of the league helping the Chiefs is former NFL quarterback and current media personality Robert Griffin III. While on his YouTube channel “Outta Pocket with RGII,” Griffin ranted on the issue, while supporting his argument with some cold hard facts.

Despite all of the statistics available to debunk these theories, some continue to double down and stick with their flawed logic. NFL officiating is certainly not perfect, but you see that in every game that is played. The reason why the Chiefs are on such a historic run is actually pretty simple – they’re really good.

Within it’s coaching staff alone, Andy Reid and Steve Spagnuolo are future Hall of Famers. An argument could even be made for Dave Toub, who is widely regarded as the best special teams coordinator of all-time. Then we get to future Hall of Fame players, such as Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, and arguably DeAndre Hopkins and Joe Thuney.

No other team in the league comes close to that. The Chiefs built the dynasty they have mostly through the draft and savvy free agent signings. It wasn’t long ago that K.C. was on the outside looking in on other elite teams achieving great things and not being able to get over the hump. Unfortunately for the rest of the NFL and other fan bases, the Chiefs are the sixth-youngest team in the league and won’t be falling apart anytime soon.
