An 8-year-old boy used his mother’s Amazon account to send 22 boxes of fireworks to Stephen Curry’s home.
OAKLAND, California – NBA superstar Stephen Curry received an explosive surprise this week when 22 boxes of fireworks arrived unannounced at his front door—a delivery that left both his family and fans stunned. The sender? An 8-year-old boy with a big imagination and access to his mother’s Amazon account.
According to sources close to the Curry family, the unusual delivery took place on Wednesday afternoon, when a string of delivery trucks pulled up to Curry’s Bay Area residence. At first, security staff assumed it was just another shipment of fan mail or sports equipment. But as boxes labeled “Handle With Care: Fireworks” kept arriving, confusion quickly turned to concern.
It didn’t take long for the mystery to be solved. The mother of 8-year-old Tyler Jenkins, a self-proclaimed Warriors superfan from San Jose, reached out to Curry’s representatives after noticing a string of unusual charges on her Amazon account. Tyler had been watching highlight reels of Curry’s spectacular three-pointers and, inspired by the player’s on-court celebrations, decided to “help Steph celebrate every game with fireworks.”
“I just wanted Steph to have the coolest celebrations ever!” Tyler explained in a heartfelt video apology posted online. “I didn’t know it would be so many boxes.”
Curry, known for his good humor and love of connecting with young fans, responded with a smile. “I appreciate the enthusiasm, Tyler! But next time, maybe stick to confetti,” Curry joked in an Instagram story, posing with one of the unopened boxes.
Tyler’s mother, meanwhile, contacted Amazon for assistance. The company has offered a full refund and arranged for the safe return of the fireworks, while also reminding parents about the importance of enabling parental controls on their accounts.
The story quickly went viral, with fans praising both Curry’s lighthearted response and Tyler’s creative—if slightly misguided—gesture. As for Tyler, he’s learned a valuable lesson: sometimes, it’s best to leave the fireworks to the professionals
