Taylor Swift shares the story of DISASTROUS First Date with Travis Kelce!
🏈 Taylor Swift’s “Disastrous” First Date Moment with Travis Kelce: A Football Fumble
When Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s whirlwind romance began, the pop superstar confessed she wasn’t exactly an expert on American football. This knowledge gap led to the hilarious moment she now calls her “insane” question from their first date.
The Question
On their first date, Taylor recalled genuinely asking Travis:
“I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl and he looked across the field, across the line of scrimmage, and saw his brother standing five feet away from him on the field.”
The Reality Check
The question left Travis a bit speechless because, as she eventually learned, that scenario isn’t possible in an NFL game.
Travis plays offensive Tight End.
His brother, Jason Kelce, plays offensive Center.
Offensive players are not on the field at the same time as the opposing team’s offense, and they don’t square off against each other across the line of scrimmage unless the other team’s defense is on the field.
Taylor laughed, explaining: “He didn’t even look at me. I now know what an insane question that was. He was like, ‘Actually, I’m on the offense and my brother’s on the offense, and I’m only on the field at the same time as the defense.'”
Why It Wasn’t A Real Disaster
Despite the embarrassing question, Taylor was quick to praise Travis for his reaction, noting that he was “so non-judgmental” and kind about her lack of football knowledge.
In fact, she said the entire beginning of their relationship, sparked by Travis’s highly-publicized attempt to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it, felt like the “wild, romantic gesture” she had been writing songs about since she was a teenager.
The “disaster” wasn’t a failure of romance, but a funny, charming moment that proved she was willing to learn about his world.
