They Abandoned School For Nightclubs, But Didn’t See This Coming…

Maya was a bright, ambitious girl from a humble background, who had earned a prestigious scholarship to St. Mary’s High School, an elite all-girls boarding school. She was proud to be one of the few who had made it, alongside her friend Luna. But St. Mary’s was a world apart from the one she came from, full of wealth, privilege, and unspoken rules.

The school salon was a symbol of status. Every Saturday, the three queens of the school — Stella, Rebecca, and Diana — would go first to have their hair done, paying extra to ensure all eyes were on them. They were the epitome of glamour and power, daughters of politicians and influential men. Maya and Luna, on the other hand, couldn’t afford such luxuries and made simple hairstyles for each other.

The three queens often mocked Maya and Luna for their modest hairdos and simple lives, calling them “ugly monkeys” and mocking their poverty. But Maya longed to belong. When Diana approached her with an offer to join their Saturday night parties, Maya’s world tilted. It was her chance to be part of the glamorous crowd, to escape the shadow of her humble beginnings.

At the party, Maya was dazzled by the opulence — the mansion, the music, the men. Caleb, a handsome and charming young man, swept her off her feet with gifts and sweet words. For the first time, Maya felt truly seen and valued. She began to change, adopting their ways — drinking whiskey, going to clubs, and living the high life.

But the price was steep. Maya’s mother’s warnings echoed in her mind: “Avoid men and concentrate on your studies. They are a distraction.” Yet Maya, caught in the whirlwind, pushed these thoughts aside. She believed Caleb’s promise of love and marriage after school.

As months passed, Maya’s grades slipped. The carefree nights turned darker as she faced repeated pregnancies and abortions. Each time, she believed she could handle it — until one pregnancy didn’t go away. Abandoned by Caleb, who had deceived her about his status and family, Maya found herself alone, scared, and with no support.

When the three queens turned their backs on her, calling her a liability, Maya felt the crushing weight of her choices. Desperate, she begged Diana for help to terminate the pregnancy, leading her to a dangerous quack doctor. The procedure nearly cost her her life.

One night, bleeding and weak, Maya collapsed outside the hostel. She was rushed to the hospital, where despite the doctors’ best efforts, she passed away on the operating table.

Her tragic story became a cautionary tale whispered through the halls of St. Mary’s: a warning to young girls to listen to their mothers, focus on their education, and beware the lure of false glamour.
