The newest addition to the Los Angeles Lakers’ roster is 6-foot-3 guard Quincy Olivari. Olivari, who went undrafted this year out of Xavier University, had two impressive games during the preseason this month, which got the Lakers to sign him to a two-way contract on Saturday while waiving center Colin Castleton to make room for him.

Right after his 22-point performance on Friday against the Golden State Warriors, Olivari got emotional while talking about meeting Stephen Curry, who has been his favorite player since he was very young. Curry returned the favor by giving the 23-year-old a shoutout on social media.

Olivari will now take part in the Lakers’ new player development system, which seems to have some real promise. They have a staff that is specifically devoted to developing young players, and new head coach JJ Redick wants the Lakers’ G League squad, the South Bay Lakers, to be an extension of the big-league Lakers.
